With a nod to Mad Men, Eero Saarinen, and mid-century glamour, Mailroom launched in September 2017 at 110 Wall Street. The brainchild of hospitality pioneer Jayma Cardoso, creative director Robert McKinley, and WeWork CEO Adam Neumann, the 3,000 square foot nightspot will have those in-the-know heading downtown to partake in craft cocktails, notable DJ’s, and special event programming.
All without pretension.
Mailroom is the latest addition to the WeWork/WeLive universe where, by day, it’s the central hub for residents retrieving correspondence and parcels, planning their day, and possibly enjoying an arcade game or two.
The whimsical interior, featuring custom seating inspired by the designs of noted Danish designer Verner Panton, is highly conducive to social interaction. “Inspiration came from the modernist design cues of the 1950’s and 60’s,” says McKinley, “It’s layered with rich woods, brass details, and shots of color.”
By night, Mailroom heats up with a roster of big name DJ’s, after parties, and special events. While in preview mode, Mailroom has hosted events with filmmaker Taylor Steele and world surfing champ Kelly Slater, performances from stars like Gucci Mane, and DJ’s like James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Mark Ronson, A-Trak, and Beastie Boy Mike D. Mailroom will mirror the creative worlds of film, art, and music.
